More about our guest speaker, Sabrina Douglas:
We are honoured to have Sabrina Douglas, the first Caymanian to explore the depths of the Cayman Trench as our special guest speaker for our upcoming National Trust Fundraiser “ A Night at the Museum: Dive Into Cayman’s Maritime Heritage.”
Meet Sabrina Douglas!
Growing up surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, the marine environment intrigued me and I learned to dive when I was 10 years old. With every dive I completed and the seafaring genes in my blood from my father, my passion became marine life. When I finished my Masters in Marine Resource Development and Protection, I came back to Cayman and worked on boats and eventually started at the Department of Environment, where I got the opportunity to experience a month living on Research Vessel Atlantis that is the home of the HOV Alvin. During that month I immersed myself in learning all I could about ship life and the skills needed to run a ship of that size while helping certify Alvin to dive 6500m.
