COP27 Representatives meet with Premier and Minister for Sustainability and Climate Resiliency, Premier Wayne Panton JP, MP
At a virtual meeting hosted by the National Trust for the Cayman Islands, Premier and Minister for Sustainability and Climate Resiliency, Premier Wayne Panton JP, MP met with the three Caymanian students who will be travelling to the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Egypt. Aleigha General, Reon Porter and Isabella Rooney were chosen through a competitive application process facilitated by the National Trust. Mr. Panton said: “I would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Aleigha, Reon and Bella for being chosen to represent the Cayman Islands at COP27. I am confident that these bright, young Caymanians will do a phenomenal job of representing the people of our Islands, but in particular the youth of our country as ambassadors for the Cayman Islands on the global stage. They are standing up for their futures, for the world they want to be a part of, and for the legacy they want older generations to leave for them. The cost of doing nothing is their future. I wish them the best of luck, and look forward to hearing the ideas and insights they bring home from their experiences at COP27.”
