Emancipation Day at Fort George
Emancipation Day at Fort George.
Fort George is the Site where the Emancipation Proclamation was originally read out in 1834 and this year the Ministry of Culture and the National Trust have teamed up to incorporated the Site into the Emancipation Day celebrations.
As such, NTCI will be staging a dramatic reenactment of the reading of the proclamation in conjunction/association with the actors from the Prospect Playhouse.
The reading will be taking place on the hour every hour from 3pm to 6pm, on Monday 5th May, at the Fort George Historic Site, across the street from Elmslie Memorial Church.
