National Trust begins historic review

The Historic Advisory Committee of the National Trust for the Cayman Islands recently began a comprehensive review of historic properties in the Cayman Islands.

The review, led by Historic Advisory Committee member Alex Wood, will update the Historic Register, which contains almost 350 properties over all three islands.

Mr. Wood’s team will evaluate the condition of each property, and grade each site based on a number of criteria.

National Trust General Manager Frank Balderamos and Historic Programmes Manager Denise Bodden will be in charge of the day-to-day administration of the review and will make an initial report on the exercise by June of this year.

The National Trust hopes to use the results of this review to ensure that historic properties are given proper protection.
