Meet Our Cop27 Representatives: Bella Rooney
Announcing our third youth delegate for the COP27 climate conference in Egypt – Bella Rooney! We’re so proud of the calibre of Cayman’s young people and absolutely over the moon that they will be representing the National Trust at this global event. Follow their daily adventures on our social media channels. Bella Rooney is a BSc Hons Zoology graduate from the University of Exeter born and raised in the Cayman Islands. Although her early years were spent performing and being involved in the music scene on Island, she found that her true passion was environmental sciences, and now specifically science communication. She attained an Associate of Science degree at our very own UCCI before moving on to Zoology at Exeter’s campus in Cornwall. During this time, she carried out various conservation endeavours such as volunteering at a Black Rhino reserve in Zimbabwe and taking part in a Snowy Plover census in the Bahamas. Since graduating, she started her own podcast/radio show called “Protecting Paradise” on environmental issues here in the Cayman Islands. She is also the Operations Manager of Plastic Free Cayman, a non-profit organisation established to raise awareness and act on our plastic problems here in Cayman. She is very grateful to be attending COP27 this year alongside the National Trust and her colleagues, expressing that this experience is one that will last a lifetime and that she cannot wait to share what they learn with the community.
