Press Release: Cayman’s First Climate Fair: Inspiring Awareness and Action Among Youth

14th May 2024 George Town, Cayman Islands – The National Trust for the Cayman Islands proudly announces the Cayman Climate Fair, a pioneering event designed to educate and empower the youth of our nation about the critical issue of climate change.

Scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 15th, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Prospect Playhouse, Tthis innovative fair invites schools from across all islands to participate in a dynamic exploration of climate science and its impact on our beautiful region.

As a frontline nation in the battle against climate change, the Cayman Islands recognize the pressing need for heightened awareness and action. While traditional methods of education, such as climate posters, remain valuable, the Cayman Climate Fair aims to take a fresh approach by integrating both science and art to effectively convey the urgency of the climate crisis.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Cayman’s first-ever Climate Fair and competition,” said Bella Rooney, Climate Education Officer at the National Trust for the Cayman Islands. “This event offers a unique opportunity for students to unleash their creativity while deepening their understanding of how climate change is reshaping our islands.”

The Climate Fair will showcase a diverse range of projects, including traditional science posters and artistic expressions, all focused on illuminating the multifaceted aspects of climate change. Participants will not only have the chance to expand their knowledge but also compete for exciting prizes as a recognition of their efforts.
