Press Release: National Trust Thanks the Community for the Overwhelming Support of The Heritage Bakehouse

9th June 2026 — The National Trust of the Cayman Islands, in partnership with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT), extends heartfelt thanks to the Caymanian community for the extraordinary outpouring of support for The Heritage Bakehouse, the hands-on cassava heavy cake experience hosted at the historic Mission House.

Since launching the revamped programme, community response has been exceptionally positive. Classes have filled quickly, and bookings now extend through 9 September 2026, demonstrating strong and sustained interest in the experience.

“The enthusiasm shown for The Heritage Bakehouse has been incredibly encouraging,” the National Trust shared. “It reflects the strong connection Caymanians and residents alike feel to Cayman Islands heritage, traditions, and stories, and the importance of creating opportunities for these experiences to be shared and celebrated. We are grateful for the support shown by the community and delighted to see so many people embracing this unique cultural experience.”

The popularity of the programme has resulted in classes becoming oversubscribed. To ensure both residents and visitors alike can enjoy this cultural experience, the National Trust is working to introduce additional class dates and expand capacity where possible. These efforts aim to balance demand, maintain the intimate quality of the experience, and ensure fair access for all.

“We ask for the community’s continued support and patience as we work through the overwhelming demand,” the National Trust added. “Your enthusiasm is the reason this programme is thriving, and we are committed to growing it sustainably so everyone has the opportunity to enjoy it.”

Further updates on new class dates and availability will be shared in the coming weeks.
