A beautiful snorkeling site in Cayman Brac, a National Trust Protected Area.
This protected site is the entry point for a great shore dive on the northeast side of the Brac. The cut in the ironshore, what Caymanians call a barcadere, leads to Sylvia’s Reef, a stunning snorkel and dive site teeming with marine life. Underwater, a gentle slope slowly deepens to about 20’ followed by a mini-wall dropping vertically to close to 65’. Healthy coral and an abundance of marine species call this site home. No fishing is allowed and please dive with care. The shallow cut in the ironshore is a great place to cool off and swim. The ironshore has fossils of coral and marine life embeded throughout. Native shoreline plants grow throughout the property, attracting native wildlife. The site is also a beautiful place to watch a sunset.
